MAY 2019 MONTHLY REPORT - Skinnydip London

Updated: Jun 23, 2020

Job title: Events and influencer intern

Work-based supervisor: Kate Walker

Activities undertaken:

I finished my second year of University and jumped straight on a train to London to begin a month working on the events and influencer team at Skinnydip London.

My primary role, to begin with, was preparing for their four-day Pride event in July. I started with identifying key invitees from among the influencers and celebrities involved within the LGBTQ+ community and sourced contact details or emailed their agents for product gifting destinations. I also sourced suitable physical deliverables for press releases and researched cost prices for gifting boxes with different sizing, colour and price options.

I was responsible for researching and writing profiles on key individuals within the LGBTQ+ community for their Wall of Fame display. I sourced secondary content and wrote copy for their Hate Sucks platform - a platform that aims to spread positivity whilst educating the audience and creating awareness about a diverse mix of topics that matter such as race, women in coding, the drag scene, period poverty, youth cancer and more.

I assisted the copywriter with new brand titles on the website, as well as taking or sourcing content for the social media feeds (Skinnydip London and Nail Club). I organised a new detailed stock inventory for all gifting stock held at head office and organised for non-needed stock to be returned to the warehouse.

I also assisted in the studio: collecting stock from stores, styling and preparing outfits, assisting with photo shoots and organising returns. I created playlists for store events, as well as sourcing DJs and up and coming artists for their Skinnydip Sessions events.

I researched and reached out to suitable influencers for different gifting purposes, such as Swim Society or micro-influencers etc. I also liaised with magazines and press assistants to source Skinnydip products wanted for call-ins and organised delivery of these.

Towards the end of my initial month Skinnydip launched their first influencer collaboration with Amelia Liana. Pre-launch, I used Diary Directory to send press edits to fashion editors and assistants. On the day of the launch, I assisted with two events. During the morning we held an exclusive press/influencer brunch for Amelia and her closest friends. I was involved with all prep of the room at Kalifornia Kitchen, comprising table decoration, balloons and individual gifting.

In the evening we held a meet-and-greet event at our Covent Garden store. I assisted with setting up and general running of the event, including managing the door to greet and direct guests and those with pre-brought tickets.

After the event, I collected all the social coverage we had received (Instagram stories and main grid posts) and documented this in the event doc.
